Easy Rolling Wheel

Trying to document how to make my Easy Rolling Wheel. Need not follow exactly, just achieve the functionality. You might also like to read about some other similar products that I have come across.

Materials: Some anti slip material, Elastic string,Normal string (thicker type), A paper clip (optional),some scotch tape, Some double sided tape (thicker better), A washer, Furniture caster wheel, Some unwanted cloth, furry and thick would be better, and Water hose.

This is one of the way to reduce the slanting angle of the caster wheel.
Thickering the caster wheel stem: Cut out two pieces from the water hose about the length of the caster wheel stem. Cut a small segment out from one of them..

Coil the cut piece reversely and insert it into the other piece.

Pass the elastic string through the hose piece.
Tie the elastic string with an adjustable loop on to the base of the caster wheel stem.

Position the elastic string at the gap of the cut hose in the outer hose.
Press the hose piece on to the caster wheel stem. 
It should be quite tight.
Note: 
1) This design might need to be adjusted depending on the bottom cap of the seat post.
2) A longer section of the hose might be better.

That's it if your seat post allow the elastic string to be pulled through from the top and tie on to the saddle frame. Otherwise, you'll need to find a way to secure the top end of the elastic string inside the seat post. Below shows the way I did it.

My Bicycle Commuting - Our weather is so nice

Seems like some don't find the weather here not conducive for cycling to work. He didn't ride before the sun comes out. Not only that, he was wearing office attire while cycling to work. Not the normal attire we locals wear, but in suit.

Actually, I think his speed and suit can help him minimize perspiration, and I guess his travel distance is short. (28 Oct 2013)

Three foldies

I bought another folding bicycle in March this year, which is the third one. Let me put down some words about the three bicycles.

1) A Raleigh 20" bought from Amazon UK during a 3 week stint there in Jun 2009 at £147.99. Used it for my commute there riding around The Drop Inn Hotel @ Wilmslow Road, Manchester. I can't say much about this bike as I only rode it during my stay there, and [accidently] sold it on ebay to someone in Singapore.

2) A Polygon Urbano 3.0 bought last year to actually try out bicycle commute using folding bicycle. I like its lower price yet comes with rear rack and fenders.

3) A Tern Link C7 bought in March this year so that whole family can go further out for a ride together. Indeed, from Toa Payoh, we have ridden to Bishan Park numerous times and ECP twice. Five year old son is not cycling yet, just using his balancing bike.

Alvin? who? Chipmunks? What?

Oh, are they some kind of cartoon/comic/game/movie characters? Sorry, I have very low knowledge on these. I gathered that Alvin is a cartoon character in a movie also acted by real human beings.

From the reviews, it should be a family friendly film, talking about some life lessons. It is suggested to be best for kids from 6-9, but beware of some mild rude humor in it.

Anyway, I bet most of you know Alvin and the Chipmunks better than me. Thus, you should likely be more excited than me that "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" is available on DVD and Blu-ray, or you could also download it.

Just upgraded to WM6.5

Finally, just upgraded my Omnia II to run on Windows Mobile 6.5. So far, nothing too fascinating. It could be because I didn't use many of WM6.1 features previously. Thus, I can only share my limited experiences.

This upgrading was very delayed because the last time I upgraded from N80 to N80ie, I only realized that the backup cannot be restored because of different versions. So, this time round I

7 new things in next-gen iPhone

I just read 7 new things in next-gen iPhone:

1. New [touch-sensitive] plastic casing
2. OLED screen
3. [5 or higher Mega pix] Camera [with LED flash]
4. New OS
5. Removable battery
6. Video chat
7. RFID reader

I am using Samsung Omnia II and it has AMOLED screen, 5 mega pix camera with LED flash, removable battery (seems only iPhones don't have), video chat (I guess). I supposed no phone has the touch-sensitive plastic casing and RFID reader. Making the back casing touch-sensitive could be useful, but already I find there is too much "sensitive" area on a touch-screen phone. Shall see what are the benefits. I have no clue why would I need a RFID reader.

This really shows the very importance of the OS!!! Sigh...

Months have passed since I changed my phone from Nokia N80ie to Samsung Omnia II i8000. Another rather big step just as I had previously moved from Nokia 3250 to N80ie.

My verdict after just using for only a few days still stands today, which is that hardware wise, it is a good phone but Windows Mobile 6.1 OS does not match up to it. Now that Apple iPhone 3GS and Google Nexus One just come out more recently, I feel Omnia II is

Bidazzled seems quite successful from what I see at their site just now. A number of bidders were actively fighting for a 50bids pack at $50 during the last few seconds. In the final minutes of the bidding, the bid price went from about $27 to close at $32.50!

Football, anyone?

If you are interested in football, do you consider yourself a fan? If so, this might be of interest to you too: www.partofthegame.tv is a Web-TV channel about football and fan life launched by Carlsberg recently.
