Now I know them
Who are they? I bet most Malaysians know who are they. However, I didn't know about them as I am not a Malaysian. Now I know who they are. However, I didn't know who they are because of their ... professions. I know who they are because of their passion to help bring more peace to the world.
They are appointed ambassadors for the upcoming Global Peace Festival 2008, Malaysia.
Nevertheless, for the non-Malaysian readers, let me introduce. They are Malaysia’s first Angkasawan (astronaut) Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor and Malaysian Idols Jaclyn Victor and Daniel Lee.

Cruelty or Teamwork
Many times we see beauties in nature. Some times we see disturbing happenings in nature. For example, the parasite practice described in the article Parasite turns host into bodyguard.
At the end of the article, it highlighted there were some sacrifices by some parasitoid larvae for their brothers and sisters. How are these few being chosen? Whatever the way is, is it fair? ... Nevertheless, because they benefit those who we perceive as their "brothers and sisters", so we use the word "sacrifice".
In the case of the caterpillar, as the parasitoid larvae were not perceived as their "brothers and sisters", its death is a sad and cruel one. What if we see them as a team, can we then sense some beauty in how the caterpillar had "lived for the sake of others".
From a smaller unit, we see unfairness. From a bigger unit, we may see teamwork. E.g. in a family, the husband or the wife can see unfaireness as they are tied down in different ways, one to work and one to house and kids. Alternatively, from the family perspective, there can be beauty of a harmonious family.

Special days in April
Here, we have multiculture where the Chinese, Malays, Indians and others may invite each other to their festive celebrations. Here, we are also multireligious. I think it would be nice to have religious memorative days be celebrated together. We should have a similar list like this one: ...

Correctness
I just learned from friends that an elder we know often say these words, roughly: "It is not about I am correct or you are correct, but what is correct?"
In science, those theories and hypotheses supported by many experimental results are taken to be more likely as correct. It is not about if any of those experimental results are correct. Rather, it is about whether the hypothesis is correct. Logically, if results from one valid experimental say otherwise, then the hypothesis correctness would be discounted, or invalidated.
Thus, if a concept is correct in the views of a group of people, but validly incorrect to another group of people, then the correctness of this concept is questionable. Arguing or fighting over which group is correct is fruitless.
However, when a hypothesis is invalidated in science, it is not thrown away but fine tuned to become a better hypothesis.
Similarly, neither of these two camp of thoughts is to be discarded, but should be fine tuned. De-emphasize the contradicting and different portions and enhance the similar and parallel portions of the concept. The latter approach is to work towards bringing about concepts that are universally correct to all people. In other words, such concepts may be called the truths. These truths will demolish the walls between these groups, especially racial and religious groups.

The Key Point
In an email regarding GPF 2007 Philippines1, M. Trombin said:
"... the key point is the same. If we, together with our partners, do not work practically and invest in changing the life and conscience of the people for the better, we will never achieve the goals proposed by Hyun Jin Nim2 via the GPF. For that we need to act on short and long terms projects and becoming a real movement for change."

Hidden conflict
Is conflict good? Surely not. Harmony is good. However, sometime it seems that conflict brings problems to the surface and thus can then be looked into and solved promptly. I suggest the term "visible conflict" for situation where the parties previously having "hidden conflict" express their views. In this sense, I would say "visible conflict" is better than "hidden conflict". "Hidden conflict" might be taken as "fake harmony", which should be sub-productive and potentially dangerous because the longer a conflict is hidden/suppressed, the more serious the situation will be when it becomes visible eventually.
By the same argument, to resolve conflict should mean to eliminate it and achieve harmony. However, many times we wrongly think that conflict has been resolved by hidding/suppressing it. For example, when two kids argue, the elder, by power and authority, instructs them to stop arguing. They might have no choice but to adhere to the elder and stop arguing. This situation is a state with "hidden conflict" or "fake harmony", while the conflict is not clearly unresolved but rather just being hidden or suppressed.
