Killing the dragon

Another story told by a colleague:

Once upon a time outside a kingdom there was a dragon. The dragon would come to the people and eat the crops and sheeps causing the people to suffer. The people complained to the King and the King organized a team of the best warriors to kill the dragon.

After a big ceremony they sent the team to the dragon cave. After the warriors went into the cave, those waiting outside heard sounds indicating that there were fightings going on in the cave. After some time, it became quiet, and the dragon didn't appear. So, the assume that the dragon was killed and went back home.

However, the dragon came again the next month. Again, they sent another team of their best warriors. Again, some fighting went on for a while in the cave and the dragon didn't come out. They went back home. However, the dragon came again on the following month.

This went on for many months until they have only one warrior left. Again, after a great ceremony, they sent this warrior to the dragon cave.

This warrior entered the cave, saw the dragon, pulled out his sword, and it didn't took him much effort to kill the dragon. Being the worst warrior in the kingdom, he was curious how could this happen? What happened to the earlier warriors? So, he went deeper in to the cave trying to find out. He saw many gold and treasures inside the cave, and there was a chair made of gold. Still wondering what exactly happened, and being a little tired, he sat on the chair to think.

A story told by a colleague:

Once upon a time in a forest there was a lion who became a King. As a King he should behave in a royal way, and eating live animal is not appropriate. However, the lion had to do it secretly.

After each daily meetings with all the animals, the lion will ask one to stay behind. He will ask if his mouth smells. If the animal answers "no, Your Majesty, it doesn't smell," he would accuse the animal lying to him and eat the animal. If the animal answers "yes, Your Majesty, it smells," he would accuse the animal dare to say his mouth smell and eat the animal.

Thus, the number of animals decreased daily. A wise rabbit noticed and think something fishy must be happening. One day, this rabbit was told to stay back. When asked the question, this rabbit replied:

When high oil prices were cited as reasons for transport fare hikes, we all thought that was logical.

When oil prices dropped but not the fares, it was explained that these two were not linked directly.

Hmmmm... linked or not linked?

It was further explained, “If there is a direct link, it must go both ways. If we have that system, there would (have been) a 40-per-cent increase in public transport fares.” What commuters got, instead, was a 0.7-per-cent average increase.

Hmmmm...

Firstly, I doubt anybody believe a "direct" link such as that described above. If there were some who believed so, then they have probably been misled into thinking so when high oil prices were cited as reasons for fare hikes.

Secondly, there is indirect link. Thus, if a 40% increase in oil prices correspond to 0.7% average increase, then when oil prices drop, there should be some decrease.

I am quite young and apolitical to know much about Mr Joshua Benjamin Jeyaretnam. I respect him just base on the fact that he continues his fight immediately after being cleared of bankruptcy to start a new political party at such old age.

While reading about his news on the Internet, I came across this article ... through Feed Me To The Fish blog. In the article, I think our Former President C. V. Devan Nair suggested that JBJ was leaving the political scene in 1999.

Now, has he left?

What is common in these movies?

Recently, I watched the movie about Muhammad Ali. I just finished watching the movie Malcolm X, which took me two nights.

I haven't done much further readings, but I believe Malcolm X was mentioned in the movie Ali. [Just read it at wikipedia]

Anyway, I find a common point in these movies that hasn't been ... talked much these days, or at world level. I wonder has the historical grudges between Africans who were brought to America as slaves, and their descendants. Yes, they were liberated, but is that enough? I would like to know what else has been done to indemnify the historical errors.

Sule Lamido explains leadership

Number two, to me, bring out all the necessary things to the public and they will further give you the confidence to comport yourself because of the Nigerian tradition over the years, and intentionally, leaders normally carry knowledge and shield it and they don't let you know the truth or hear it. The public is denied the truth about how their leaders are faring. And if people come and report anything about my government, no matter how impalatable, it is for me to reflect over why are we going wrong and then cut ourselves. The whole thing about leadership is not personal government.

I share his views. Similar, Kingship is not about having power, but is about loving and serving people. Thus, the King of Kings must be more loving and serving than all the Kings.

Also, conflicts are mistakes should not be covered up just for good image. These should be exposed, resolved, and usually lead to improvement of the whole. Then, this is not only truly good image, but also good substance.

I wish him success in practicing what he believes. It is not easy when the people around usually don't really think as he does.

Can I say that to have intimacy is to infect each other?

Since the main media have whitewashed such news due to concerns about political correctness, let the side media like bloggers who do not have political correctness concerns spread these important information out.

Looking at the medical perspective on infection, it seems like most intimacy behaviors are acts of infecting the other party. Thus, having only one partner in one's lifetime is a smart choice!

Conservative

The first definition found through Google search for conservative is "resistant to change"

In this modern world, I suppose most are not resistant to change. However, that doesn't mean they welcome any change. Change by itself is neutral. Thus, to label someone as conservative or liberal is too simplistic.

Wait a minute. What does liberal mean? Google search returns:

broad: showing or characterized by broad-mindedness; "a broad political stance"; "generous and broad sympathies"; "a liberal newspaper"; "tolerant ...
tolerant of change; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition

Wow! Reading these, I wonder how many would still consider himself/herself as a conservative person?

Are those being careful in deciding before making changes conservative? I think they aren't resistant to change by being careful.
Do liberals accept any kind of changes, regardless of if its consequence is obviously bad?

Is it our fault?

Not all thinks global warming is due to human. Furthermore, is global warming a disaster to be or can be avoided? Or is it just natural changes? Have there been people who try to stop the temperature from rising during summer and vice-versa during winter?

How to control?

Is the era of controlling by power passing away?

When somebody suggests in a blog, and leave it up to readers to consider appearing at a stated place, date and time, and in a specific attire, how could it be stopped or avoided?
These people have a certain point of view to make, but others who don't know about this may also just happens to be there in matching attire.

Is this considered an organized event?
How could this be managed?

I doubt it can be tackled by any forms of power. There is a great need to build trust through true love, i.e. practice and demonstrate living for the greater good lifestyle.
